Retreat Information (classes/projects, etc.)

Last year, more than 30 quilt retreat participants gave us valuable feedback through a survey we sent out.  If you were one of them, THANK YOU for sharing your thoughts and opinions!  We used that information heavily in planning for this year’s retreat.  63% of you said that you enjoyed the quilt classes and projects, so we are offering more this year!

BARGELLO TABLE RUNNER PROJECT:
If you are doing this, we encourage you to cut your panel strips before arriving at the retreat, and if possible sew them together according to Xina’s instructions. (93% of you said you preferred to do some prep work before the retreat, to save time. J) You will receive these instructions from Nina Owen through email.  Xina Crawford and Vicky Caylor will be leading this.

Very important: Make sure you bring a new, sharp seam ripper for this project!  Also bring a ruler that is close to 6” x 12”. It is easier to use this rather than the long 6” x 24”.
P.S. For those who are Skilled Quilters: if the panels are pre-made prior to the retreat, this project can be done in one and a half days. So, be sure to bring other project(s) to work on, OR make a second set of panels for a 2nd Bargello runner!

CASSEROLE TOTE PROJECT:
Here’s a great gift idea, for yourself or someone else!   Susie Hull will be teaching us how to make this project.  If you are interested in making a casserole tote, you need to bring these materials to the retreat:

·      2 pieces of fabric measuring 22” x 22”
·      2 pieces of 100% cotton batting or Insul-Brite measuring 23” x 23”
·      1 strip of fabric measuring 5” x 22”
·      2 pieces of fabric measuring 4.5” x 7”
·      matching thread
   *   marking pencil

THE BLOCK PROJECT:
Materials & directions will be provided at the retreat for $5 per kit.  You do not need to bring anything for this.  Theresa Love and Judy Patterson will be leading this.

These blocks are LARGE (14” x 14”).  Each block will have a unique feature.  We are excited about this!  You will turn in your finished block before dinner time on Friday.

FAT QUARTERS:
On last year’s survey, we asked: “If you could choose a theme or colors for next year’s block project, what would you pick?” The most requests were for Spring/summer-themed fabrics.  We decided that this would be a good choice for this year’s 4 fat quarters.  Bring them on -- any color with small prints of flowers, leaves, paisley.  You will give your 4 fat quarters to Nina Owen or Theresa Love no later than Friday morning in exchange for your participation in the Quilt Bingo game! By the way, 77% of the people who filled out last year’s survey said they enjoyed the Bingo game.  (We are NOT using our quilted blocks as the Bingo boards this year.  We will be giving you quilt-related boards to play with.)
